Imagine feeling better, having more stamina, moving more easily, having better focus, and feeling more confident as you move through the world!  These are things that are possible through martial arts training.  I’m living proof that this is possible….and now it’s available online!

It’s time to transform your life.  Don’t feel overwhelmed by the events of the world!  Don’t cower in fear or worry!  You can do something about this right now, with online classes and instruction that will improve your health, confidence, focus, and mood.

I earned my first degree black belt in martial arts at the Martial Arts Center for Health in Orlando two years ago.  This training has been life-changing for me.  With the advent of the quarantine and online learning, this training is now available to anyone, no matter where you are!  Contact them to learn more.

I was extremely skeptical six years ago when I started martial arts training to rehab a shoulder problem caused by years in the gym.  I was a gym guy, and I didn’t want to fight or hit anyone.  (This is not part of our training!)  Within the first month I was hooked for life!  Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, with the instructors teaching multiple levels of students at the same time.  This ability to monitor and instruct students at every level at the same time is one of the most impressive things about this instruction, and I talked with founder and owner Tom Curtin about this process and these concepts on THIS PODCAST.

Here are some of the benefits that I have found, and which you can add to your own life:

Improve your focus, get more done
When the world feels like it’s in chaos and so much seems out of our control, we need the skills to focus and stay in the present moment.  Martial arts training is a great way to work on this.  Lessons begin with breathing and getting centered, reminding students to focus and take this hour for their health.  This ability to stay calm and focused translates easily into every aspect of your life.  (Just listen to the first 2 minutes of this podcast.)

Feel more confident, feel less fear
It’s a scary time, and many of us feel less safe than we used to.  This can be especially true for younger people who struggle with the demands of social media and the perceptions of our culture.  I have found confidence and growth through this training.  There is great power in knowing that I have the ability to defend myself should something happen.  The idea that I have been taught something to do to protect myself and my family gives me great confidence.  Skills that can defuse a situation can give you confidence as you move through the world, and that alone can keep others from trying to make you a victim.  I am confident that if I simply begin to show that I have some training and know how to defend myself, anyone thinking of attacking me will turn and walk away.  My ability to move through the world in the present, paying attention and looking confident, keeps others from seeing me as a target and gives me peace of mind.

Feel stronger, move more freely
I’ve been a gym guy for over 40 years and I still advocate for the use of strength training to be stronger, feel better, and age more gracefully.  However, I have shifted my focus to martial arts training and have found that my mobility improved, I move more freely, and I have kept my strength.  We fear the decline that our culture tells us comes with getting older, but martial arts training is a great way to counter this.  It’s possible to improve your strength, have better balance, and decrease your chance of injury or falling as we get older.  The confidence this brings is worth the effort alone!

Bring your best possible self to your loved ones
As with all fitness training, the time spent improving how we feel and look is a great gift we bring to our family and friends.  Whether I’m standing in front of a band or walking around a theme park, I want to have the stamina and mobility to be able to give my best to the situation and really enjoy myself fully.  Spending time on my health allows me to bring my best to every moment of my life.

If I’m going to live many more years on this planet, I want to make them good ones!  I want to move through the rest of my life feeling good, being strong and vigorous, without limitations or fears that can keep me from bringing my best to the world.  You can do this too!  Martial arts training is one great way to do this, but whatever you choose, stick to it and give it your best.  Be an inspiration to the world in a time when the world needs all we can give it!
