Marching Arts Education Scholarship for Musicians and Color Guard Drum Corps

Terms and Conditions of the 2022 Marching Arts Education Scholarship

1) No purchase necessary.  It is not necessary to purchase a Marching Arts Education membership to apply for this scholarship or vote.

2) The Marching Arts Education Scholarship 2022 is an award which will go to four performers marching in a Drum Corps International drum corps in the summer of 2022.  These will go to any DCI performer in any caption.

One scholarship will be sponsored by Marching Monk
One scholarship will be sponsored by Synced Up Design
One scholarship will be sponsored by LCL Mentors
These three scholarships will be determined by a combination of Round Two voting and the Scholarship Panel.

The final scholarship from Marching Arts Education will be determined solely by the Scholarship Panel, chosen from the 20 finalists.

In the event that the 2022 Drum Corps International season is cancelled, these scholarships will not be awarded.  If the season is not cancelled but an individual corps decides not to field a corps to compete in 2022, the scholarship money must be refunded from the drum corps back to the scholarship sponsor who paid the $1000 scholarship.

3) Eligibility.  Any student marching in a 2022 Drum Corps International drum corps may apply.  Marching Arts Education will not make any decision of eligibility or determine winners based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or which drum corps they are a member of.  No-one may apply if they are not a marching member of a 2022 DCI corps.  Employees of Marching Arts Education and their family members are not eligible to win this scholarship.

4) Awards.  A scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to four marchers for a total scholarship giveaway of $4,000.  In addition, the top 20 applicants who receive the most votes in Round One will each receive a one-year membership to Marching Arts Education.

5) How to Enter.  Applicants may enter by filling out the online form at www.MarchingArtsEducation.com/Scholarship.  Entries must be completed by the applicant and not through any other service or with a bot.  The criteria for selection will be based on the questions on the application.  These are:

  • Marching and Music Experience
  • Why should you be selected for this scholarship award?
  • Why do you want to be a marching arts educator?

6) Winner Selection.  Scholarship winners will be selected from the 20 finalists.   These finalists are the applicants who receive the most votes in Round One. Round One of Voting will take place on the Marching Arts Education website.    Each person may vote one time using one email address.  Round One Voting begins on March 31, 2022 and ends at midnight eastern time on April 13, 2022.  The top twenty vote receivers will move to Round Two.

Round Two Voting begins on April 18, 2022 and ends at midnight eastern time on April 24, 2022.  Round Two of Voting will take place on the Marching Arts Education website and on Instagram.  Instagram voting will be on a post on the Marching Arts Education Instagram page.  Voting on the Marching Arts Education website will use the same method as Round One.  Voting from Round Two will count 50% and input from the Scholarship Panel will count 50% for three of the scholarships.  The other scholarship will be determined solely by the scholarship panel.

Applications are accepted between March 14, 2022 and March 28, 2022.  All applicants who make it to Round Two will receive a one year membership to Marching Arts Education.  The Marching Arts Education Scholarship Panel will review the top twenty applicants in Round Two and give their input for who should be awarded the scholarship.  Winners will be announced on April 25, 2022.

The Marching Arts Education Scholarship Panel will be comprised of four recognized music and marching educators.  Each panelist will select and rank their top six from the twenty finalists and these rankings will be compiled into a final ranked list of finalists.  This final ranking will be combined with the ranking from the voting (as detailed above) and four DCI performers will win the scholarship awards.  Members of the Marching Arts Education Scholarship Panel are:

  • Larry Wells – Retired Band Director renowned for his work at Northwestern HS, Rock Hill, SC
