Don’t Try to Lose Weight

Don’t try to lose weight!  The mind inherently balks at losing anything!  A more effective strategy is to frame your goal around what you want to achieve.

“I want a leaner body to hang my clothes on.”

“I want to feel lighter and have better mobility as I move through the world.”

“I want better stamina and endurance at rehearsals.”

“I want to be strong enough to walk all around Europe on my upcoming vacation.”

“I want play with my children or grandchildren freely, getting up and down off the floor with ease.”

It’s all in how you frame it!  Having your weight loss adventure written down as a positive, affirming goal that you can get excited about will get you much further.

I also recommend that you use the power of visual imagery.  Find pictures of the kind of body you want and post it on your bathroom mirror or refrigerator.  These will be constant reminders of your goal and inspiration to stay the course.  If you’re thinking of reaching into your pantry for snacks and see a picture of that body you’re working toward, you’ll stop and make a smarter choice.

The same goes for pictures of cars or homes or pools or marching bands or vacations.  Put those images around to keep you excited and focused!

You can do it!
