How to Stay Young

Henry Ford said “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.  Anyone who keeps learning stays young.”  We all seek to stay young, vibrant, and engaged with life.  One of the best ways to do this is to keep learning.

My mission is to help people find the information they need to continue to learn and improve.  I love sharing great ideas through the inspiring conversations of the podcasts and webinars at Marching Arts Education.  After 10 years we have hundreds and hundreds of hours of engaging and helpful ideas that anyone can use to grow and improve.

The best way to make your group better is to make YOURSELF better.  Taking some time each week to listen, watch, and learn will help you become a better instructor, designer, and director. (Sign up for a membership to get complete access!)

I have had the privilege to talk with many of the top professionals in our marching activity, and one common thread among them all is that they have a thirst to continue learning and growing.  They continue to research and study and seek out the best in the arts and culture.

Perhaps most inspiring is that the most successful are happy to share what they have learned.  They are not threatened by others’ success, but are excited to watch and learn and use the great accomplishments of their colleagues to help them move on to greater heights themselves.  As Scott Chandler of the Blue Devils said, “I don’t want everyone else to make all the mistakes I made.”

If you find someone who thinks they have all the answers, you can bet they are inexperienced and have actually learned little.  It’s often those who have HALF the information who are most sure that they know all that is needed.  Then they wonder why their students fail to achieve the excellence they are seeking.  Realizing how much you have to learn is a sign that you are making real progress!

I hope that you will take advantage of the live webinars and podcasts at Marching Arts Education to keep learning and STAY YOUNG!  Keep your mind sharp with new ideas, challenging yourself to grow and stretch.  And please consider becoming a member so you get complete access and also help us be able to continue to do this work and share this information.  Stay young and vibrant and growing!  You can do it!
