Sharing What You Know

As we reach the milestone of Podcast 1000, I am proud that the Marching Roundtable has shared the best of our activity for over 10 years.  I have noted many times that the top marching arts professionals are always happy to share what they know and how they do things.  Rather than keeping their expertise hidden from others for some perceived competitive gain, the most successful know that they can share freely without concern.

Scott Chandler, Program Coordinator for the Blue Devils, has said many times that he’s happy to share what he knows in hopes that others don’t have to make all the mistakes he has made.  All of us feel this way.  We know of our own struggles, of the times when we did not know something that could have helped us, and we don’t want others to suffer the same way.  (Find Scott’s course here).

Thanks Scott for the well wishes from the Blue Devils Color Guard on Podcast 1000!  Watch that HERE

This is the concept and mission of both the Marching Roundtable and Marching Arts Education.  We hope to share the information that educators and designers need to be more successful and enjoy their work more.  This information is not elusive, but the student must do their part.  They must take the time to listen to podcasts, watch webinars and interviews, and absorb these ideas.  This is the real sacrifice, taking time away from other “less productive pursuits” and giving it to one’s growth and education.

It has been an honor to get to have these 1000 conversations with so many smart and successful people in our activity.  I never end a podcast recording without feeling encouraged by the kindness and passion of others in our activity.  If you need to be reminded that there is more light than darkness in the world, listen to a podcast or watch a webinar!  Take the time to learn and grow.  It will lift you up, broaden your world, and move your forward.
