CROWNBRASS 2019 JANUARY CAMP

On Episode 1 we find out the goals for the camp, see the corps learn how to set up the arc correctly, and see ice breaker exercises to help the corps get to know each other. A fascinating look behind the scenes at how they begin to build the corps family for the season.

On Episode 2 we see how Brass Caption Supervisor Matt Harloff and his talented staff begin teaching the all-important concepts of breathing.  Get an up close look at the breathing exercises they teach first, plus watch them teach “Breathe DAH,” the concept behind breathing together and entering on a pitch.  A valuable look behind the curtain of how these critical concepts are first taught as the 2019 season begins at January Camp.

In Episode 3, we see Matt Harloff and his staff teach the first lip slurs to the hornlike.  Exercises include 9 Count Tones, 2 Note Lip Slur, 3 Note Lip Slur.  Hear the expert instruction as basic slurring concepts are established as the season begins.

Episode 4 shows Saturday’s classes of brass pedagogy, exercises from The Breathing Gym, and work on Tone Quality.  You will see mouthpiece work with a focus on quality of sound and matching that sound player to player.
