EATING: The Best Advice I Ever Got!

Many of us try to eat in a healthy way to maintain our ideal weight, feel better, and look better.  There’s no question that what we eat (and when) are the most important factor in maintaining a healthy weight.  This is all the more true if you are trying to lose weight and get into shape

I’d like to share with you the best advice I ever received about food and eating.  This has revolutionized the way I think about WHAT to eat WHEN.

Here is it:

Eat for what you’re about to do.

It’s that simple.  Look at your day, look at the next few hours, and consume the amount of food you need for those tasks.

How active are you going to be?  Are you about to hike for two miles?  You need more fuel in your body, so eat up!!  Are you going to sit down and watch a movie and relax?  You don’t need much fuel for that, so eat something light.

It’s really this simple.  When I started thinking of my meals as FUEL for the next few hours, I was able to make smarter choices.

The problems arise when our food consumption does not match our activity level.  That gigantic spaghetti dinner just before bed is a recipe for disaster.  And skipping breakfast before an active morning will also set you up to feel poorly and perform badly.

Think about fueling your body for the activity level you’re about to engage in and watch your body transform!  You can do it, it’s really that simple.
