The gym is sort of like my second home.  I spend a couple of hours there almost every day, so I care about the place and want it to be nice.  It’s MY gym, and if I’m going to spend so much of my life within those walls, I want to feel good in the space and for it to be a nice place.

My workout partner John and I are often frustrated with the shape of the gym.  It seems that lazy or preoccupied gym members will not return dumbbells to their proper location, or will leave equipment sweaty or dirty.  Just yesterday, we actually had the unpleasant task of  removing a paper towel from the back of a bench.  Someone had obviously attached the paper towel to the bench to be “clean” and not have their head touch the bench.  But then, after sweating all over it, walked away and left it there.

After much disinfectant and a squeamish walk to the trash can, we fixed the situation and continued on with our workout.  But it would be nice if we could all work together here!  Just be aware of those around you, and that you are part of a community.  It is certain that if we all do our part to put things away and keep things clean, then we all benefit and have safer and faster workouts.  Let’s make this part of our New Year’s Resolution plans for the coming year!  Let’s tidy up and all do our part to keep the gym clean.
