Relax, But Keep Moving
We all need some time off after a stressful year, and a holiday weekend is a great time to relax and be lazy. I encourage you to do just that! Enjoy yourself, rest, lay around, spend time with friends and family (whether in person or virtually) and catch up on all those shows you love to watch. Enjoy football and lots of pumpkin pie. However, don’t stop moving entirely!
Although resting is important, I encourage you to keep moving. This could be as simple as a slow walk around the block after dinner, or a casual game of frisbee with the kids in the back yard. Go for a leisurely bike ride, or lay on the floor and do some stretching. Just move a little bit!
It’s tempting to completely stop and just lay around, but I have found that some sort of movement always makes me feel better. I sleep better if I’ve had some exercise, and moving my muscles keeps me from getting too stiff. Some movement every day, no matter how simple, can keep my body from stiffening up too much.
Enjoy your relaxation, but also go outside and throw that football around a bit! Then you’ve earned one more piece of pie.
