Spinning rifle is often viewed by the beginning performer as a difficult goal, yet in the early years of color guard those who spun rifle didn’t use flag skills as a stepping-off point as most do today, they simply began their color guard career with spinning rifles. One of the major difficulties of spinning rifles comes from the fact that students often try to learn consecutive one-handed spins as their first basic rather than true foundational techniques.

Following the modules of this course in order will allow you to learn the most foundational skills necessary to build a strong base of knowledge for performing or teaching rifle spinning in color guard. Each module gives a description of the purpose of the step, then teaches some of the basic moves within that level using videos. Once a module is mastered, moving on to the next module will provide you with another description of how to build on the previous module, along with more basic moves in a progression. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to use basic rifle manipulations in combination to create choreography to any music.
