Difficulty Level: Medium, Grade 3/4
Style: Contemporary Arrangements of Classic melodies
Original Arrangements by Tim Hinton
Percussion Music by Clif Walker
(Originally commissioned by the Collins Hill H.S. Band, Suwanee, GA, Richard Magner, Director)
Arabian Dance / Trepak / The Battle / In The Pine Forest (w/drum solo) / March / Snowflakes
A precursor to the more difficult “Nutcracker for the New Millennium“, this show mixes classical music with a lot of fun. The opening is dramatic, “Trepak” is exciting, and the closer is a JAZZ piece! This original marching band show is a great combination of the traditional, innovative, and inventive. (Also see the show titled “Christmas 2011” which has a great Nutcracker closer – in the newest version.)
One of my proudest moments! When a band recently performed this show at a clinic with top adjudicators, all of the clinicians came down after the performance and asked the director, “WHO wrote these arrangements!!” I know the midi recordings are not good but this show really works and the closer is a surprise and a delight!
